River Winds

Luxury Townhouses and Marina

Oriental is located approximately 40 miles east of New Bern, the first capital of North Carolina. Oriental, once a tiny fishing village, is found on the banks of the Neuse River, a few miles upstream from the convergence of the Neuse and Pamlico Sound.

On the Intracoastal Waterway, Oriental is a popular stopping-off point for cruisers traveling north and south. Feeling truly welcomed, many of these cruisers have returned to Oriental to make their homes here.

Only two blocks from “downtown” Oriental, River Winds residents can walk or ride their bikes down Blackwell Point Loop road, or they might choose to dinghy or paddle under the bridge and over to Oriental’s town dock. There, in the center of “downtown” you might attend an art fair, have a leisurely and delicious lunch, visit with cruising boaters, participate in a festival, or catch up with friends over a cup of coffee.

It’s a day’s sail to Okracoke on the Outer Banks, an hour’s drive to the pristine beaches of Emerald Isle, a boat ride away from collecting shells at Shackleford Banks, or an hour or two to many historical towns and villages on the inner banks, there will always be something to do. Or you can sit back, watch the water, and appreciate one of the best features of the town …. tranquility.
